Barbara's approach to art - her own and other people's - comes from a visceral understanding of why it matters and how it works. She is a pragmatic, sensitive producer, skilled in managing emergencies, and singularly dedicated to taking care of both art and the people interacting with it. It’s been a privilege and a pleasure to work with her.

It’s a drag to make art without Barbara. I’ve been recruiting her as a costumer, actor, director, dramaturg, sounding board, and therapist for the better part of a decade, and I don’t plan to stop until she’s out of my price range. I bring her on when I need someone to make my voice sound more like my own, or when I need someone to make bold choices that I wouldn’t, or when I need someone to hold together a chaotic room, or when I just need someone fun to keep me company. And I know I’m not the only one. Barbara knows how to create a community, how to make people feel at home and get them to do their best work. She knows when to take care of you and when to kick your ass. Hire her. Pay her lots of money. You won’t regret it.

Curating, Producing, and Dramaturgy
I have watched her work as a director, designer, dramaturg and playwright, worked with her on operas and in the literary department of Soho Rep, and been impressed with every aspect of herself revealed through those endeavors. She has a phenomenally clear vision of her personal theater and an extraordinary insight into what others are trying to create. Barbara has an incredible work ethic and an indomitable drive to make and facilitate theater she believes in.
